CERC was happy to work with a great group of committed, thoughtful and motivated cultural institutions in its one-year program to facilitate disaster planning at cultural organizations all over Maine. A team of trained facilitators drawn from FEMA Corps worked directly with 26 cultural institutions, and contract facilitators worked with 4 more – representing a broad range of institutional sizes, geographical locations, collections types, and building construction. Sparking thoughtful discussions, useful connections, and in some cases spirited debates, the process helped each organization develop a disaster plan that addressed their specific circumstances.
